A dream comes true

Heritage Village (formerly under the name of Heritage Place) was acquired on September 17, 1991 by Mr. Fernand Larose, a business man of Gatineau, who had the dream to "build a park for a large family". Claire et Fernand LaroseHaving explored the multiple advantages of Heritage Village and its surroundings, he concluded that the site met his criteria, which was a park in a peaceful place under tropical weather and away from the crowded cities. He thus took the necessary steps with the authorities of Okeechobee County to make his dream come true. After a few months of negotiations, he became the owner of Heritage Village.

Visionary by nature along with his talent of entrepreneurship, Fernand Larose could already see the potential viability and eventual beauty of such a park. Having at his disposition an area of 50 acres, he thought of creating a site whose purpose would be twofold, one to accommodate mobile homes and another for recreational vehicles. Initially, there were only 32 mobile homes in the park.

Our founder reconfigured the park to create the section for recreational vehicles. 13 houses of the 32, established in the recreational vehicles section had to be moved to the mobile homes section. On January 28, 1992 the recreational vehicles section was officially opened. At the end of the 1991-1992 season, Heritage Village had 94 owners.

The years following the acquisition of Heritage Village were busy and active for Fernand Larose and the pioneers of the Park. Supported by the pioneers, he created the first Board of Directors and undertook the construction of the clubhouse, the swimming pool, Petanque and Shuffleboard courts, etc. Since, he always supported the various administrations that succeeded him and never ceased to devote himself in improvement projects; his efforts contributed to the fact that Heritage Village has never ceased to embellish over the years.

Mr. Larose and his wife Claire are always residents of Heritage Village where they can finally admire and enjoy the fruit of their labour.

Thanks to the dream of one man who followed his intuition, we can now benefit from one of the most beautiful Parks in Florida.
